Locomotive Art - MS Paint
During the initial image concept planning phase, I used an ancient program called MS Paint to decorate locomotive drawings. There are variations in the colors and road names. I thought it would be fun to post them on this page. You can tell from the road numbers that this exercise took place before the roster was finalized.
The drawings used are from Michael Eby's Trainiax website or Joshua Moldover's Railfan Paint Shop website. Feel free to take a look around these sites - there are many quality locomotive drawings to be found.
MS Paint allows you to paint outlined areas. For each of the locomotive models I would create the outline between the color separation and then "open up" the colored areas by creating a tiny break in the detail lines so that each of the colored areas could be easily re-painted to experiment with different color matches.
This artwork along with some text instructions is what I provided to Ron Roberts who runs Rail Graphics Decals to develop the decal sets used on the models. You can learn more about the specific decal sets on the Decals Page on this site.
