T&GN/NT&O Train Symbols - MBU Mexico

T&GN/NT&O Symbol Methodology

Mexico-Network Manifest Trains

Below is a list of the base train symbols for the Manifest Business Unit Mexico-Network Trains.  Trains can be combined or extras run on a daily basis as traffic warrants.  The original train numbers used during the planning stage are included for reference though the train symbol is what is used by the operating department.  Not all symbols will be active at the same time as volumes fluctuate, service may change from a full train to a block carried by another train.

The original numbering system classified domestic-network manifest trains with 100-series numbers and Mexico-network manifest trains with 200-series numbers.  In the Alpha-Numeric train symbol system the final letter character designating train type is an "X" for Mexico-network manifest trains instead of the "M" used for domestic-network trains.

By standard operating procedures, most base manifest train schedules in the Mexico Network will carry priority "6" however these priorities can be changed by the Division Superintendent or Corridor Superintendent as required to protect customer service obligations.  Trains to Mexico City by service plan have three priorities - 5, 6, and 9.
